Rough Luxe Suite

Rough Luxe is not a decorating style. It is what happens when you take an old stable and decline to smooth it out: walls close to a metre thick, small windows cut for shade, floors that were never level and still are not. Everything modern was then layered carefully on top. Nothing here was made to look old — it simply is.

Thirty square metres at ground level, with a separate bedroom and its own living room. The bedroom window looks straight out into the garden in front of it — small frame, very pretty picture.

And in August, when the island sits at forty degrees, those old walls keep the suite cool long before the air conditioning has to do anything about it.
